Congratulations to our very own Apprentice of the Year

Vaseco apprentice Christopher Towers has been awarded Engineering Department Apprentice of the Year at Mid Cheshire College. We are proud to have Chris on the Vaseco team and would like to congratulate him on his achievement.

When asked to comment on his Apprenticeship with Vaseco Chris stated the following:

What do you enjoy most about being an apprentice with Vaseco?

Learning and doing new things every week and that no day is ever the same. Being treated with respect and understanding by all staff at every level and also feeling that I am an important and needed member of the team.

What are your ambitions?

I would like to build on any opportunities given so that I can grow and develop my career with Vaseco. I would like to complete my 3 year Apprenticeship with Vaseco and achieve a distinction which I am currently on target for.  I would then like to complete a HNC / HND in mechanical engineering if possible.

Once I have achieved the above then I would like to progress within Vaseco and aim at becoming a Team leader or Manager one day. If any further apprentices are appointed then I would love to be in a position to train and pass on my personal knowledge.

When do you hope to complete your apprenticeship?

Currently have 1 year remaining of my 3 year Apprenticeship. However, I would very much like the opportunity to continue my education by taking a part time HNC / HND course which would be a further 2 years.

What would you say to others thinking about becoming an apprentice with us?

Anyone looking at getting into engineering should definitely consider Vaseco as the place to complete an apprenticeship. The support and training that all the staff provide for me is second to none and they really want to get the best out of an apprentice with patient and caring support. I feel part of a family rather than just an employee. As with anything in life you get back what you put in and Vaseco is a prime example of recognising hard work and rewarding this.

Michael Frank General Manager said we, at Vaseco would like to state how pleased we are with the decision to take Chris on as an apprentice.  He is hard working, reliable and keen to learn with an eye for detail which will all definitely help him towards his goal of a long term future here at Vaseco.

We have just completed a major upgrade of our IT infrastructure with globally recognised SAP management software.

The software gives us a far better focus within all aspects of the company so that we can meet and exceed our customer’s demands.

The Oil and Gas industry is under pressure to maintain competitiveness while facing many challenges due to the oil down turn and increased global competition.

We recognise that we have to be at the leading edge of technology in order to assist our customers in these difficult times.

With SAP we can manage critical business processes including the planning and execution of supply chain, manufacturing and testing as well as sales and marketing.

With this further IT investment we can reach and support our global customers more efficiently.

Vaseco keeping up with the Standards ISO9001:2015

Our aim has always been to maintain our high standards of quality for our customers.

This month we successfully completed our renewal of our ISO 9001:2008 and at the same time achieved the transition to ISO 9001:2015 which was released in September 2015.

Businesses has changed in the last 15 years so the ISO 9001 also had to change to a new revised standard to address the change in the business world.

One thing that remains constant over this time is our  business has to adapt to meeting the growing needs of our customers. The ISO was originally written with the customer in mind and that remains the priority of vaseco and the  ISO  9001:2015.

The new standard is based on a new high level structure that brings a common framework to all management system standards. This helps to keep consistency, alignment with different management system standards, offer matching sub-clauses against the top-level structure and apply common language across all standards.

The key changes in the ISO 9001:2015

  • Greater emphasis on leadership
  • Focus on risk management
  • Emphasis on objectives, performance measurement and change
  • Communication and awarenessWith this new standard in place, we will find it easier to incorporate it into the core of our business process and gain greater business benefit for ourselves and our customers.

The highest standards of Quality at Vaseco are maintained

We are pleased to annownce  we have successively achieved the renewal approval for our ISO 9001: 2008 Certificate

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do therefore vaseco is committed to understanding, meeting and, when possible, exceeding our customer’s requirements through the continual improvement of everything that we do.

To achieve our goals, all vaseco employees are required to follow the vaseco Quality Management System.

Through this, vaseco will strive to deliver our services on-time and every time.

In order to support our ever increasing International business Christina has

recently completed  the BCC Foundation Award in International Trade, organised

by the Chester and West Cheshire Chamber of Commerce.  This has helped Christina in

her role as Admin Team Leader in order to further understand the processes involved

with both export and import procedures.

Vaseco is now entering an exciting new phase of our expansion programme and I can finally reveal that as a result of our commitment to continuously improve and increase the level and range of services that we can offer our customers has resulted in our new Inspection Department now being opened for business.

This added service will enhance our capabilities to offer a more complete test programme with the ability to carry out the following activities:

Pre Test Inspections.

In Test strip down , inspection and re-assembly of components.

Post test Inspections.

The high investment in the Inspection Department includes a growing range of conventional equipment such as Verniers and Micrometers as well as the latest technology in Dimensional checking with a  Brand New Faro Arm which will allow us to carry out detailed Dimensional checks with full Dimensional Reports.

We also now have four Trained Technicians who have all undergone Training on the use of the Faro Arm as well as 2 Technicians with many years of experience in QC/Inspection departments.

The Faro Arm capability allows us to bring the Inspection Department to the components and to carry out dimensional inspections on much larger components without the need to move the component into the inspection area.

This will also allow us to carry out external dimensional checks on any size of component without having to remove the component from the Test Chambers. This will allow us to Inspect components during qualification programmes without disturbing the setup.

Philip Frank, Managing Director stated:

“I am incredibly proud that Vaseco has emerged from my ‘one-man vision ‘ in 1990 to the international company that we are today.  We have grown from strength to strength, experiencing many ups and downs, coped with many challenges and have created change where necessary in order to become the success that we are today. ”

We have already committed to our future by further investment in people, improved technology and ensuring that we listen to and act upon customer requirements.

Mike Frank, Company Director is pleased to announce:

“We are really excited about our future plans, with continued growth and expansion we are planning to take the Company to another level.  We have a number of exciting projects in the pipeline, all to be revealed in early 2016. We would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to all our customers for their constant support and loyalty, which is valued by all at Vaseco.

Last but not least, we would also like to say thank you to all our staff for their loyalty and commitment to the company over the last 25 years. We would not have achieved the present success without the committed, hardworking staff that we have here today.

As part of our continued expansion programme and commitment to invest in the local community, we’re very pleased to welcome Chris and Karl to the company after they joined the Vaseco 2014 Apprentice Scheme at the start of October.
